Unity Alpha
by Corey McKinnon
Unity has been underway for almost 200 years of its 500-year voyage, carrying over 20,000 people to a new home among the stars. The ship—built inside a hollowed-out asteroid—has had a relatively uneventful journey.
Until now.
Ian Leatherby is a power engineer researching a string of unexplained power outages. Miyuki Takata is a detective investigating a rash of unsolved thefts. They team up when they realize the two mysteries may be connected.
Together, Miyuki and Ian race to uncover the secret plot that threatens the safety of Unity and everyone on board. Can they unmask the conspirators and stop their plan before it reaches its ultimate conclusion?

This is a fun book with a great plot! There’s mystery, a growing friendship, and a really creative culture.
I truly enjoyed the spaceship setting and how it works with the plot. It’s so fun! I also love the creative technologies they use. I want one of their cell phones! The characters have great personalities that are easy to relate to- I made some new friends in this book!
Obviously, sci-fi fans would love this book but it's written in such a way that fiction, young adult, and others will also enjoy it too.
Unity Alpha is already added to my favorite list and I want to read it again! It’s Corey McKinnon’s debut book and I hope we’ll see more from him!
5/5 stars
